Fire at Notre-Dame, oil on canvas, 60 x 50 cm. I was working on the faces of the two men, who come from different walks of life. One comes from a wealthy background and the other from a working-class background. One smokes a pipe and the other a cigarette. That's when I saw the fire at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris on the television. The journalist was interviewing people with the cathedral in flames in the background. So I incorporated the scene into my painting.
