Gala Mirissa. In Greek mythology the God Eros represents attraction, passion and fertility. The eros type of love refers to passionate love that involves desire and attraction. Unlike love as it is understood today, eros occupies a deeper semantic dimension. The Greek eros is sometimes just about desire or passion. The ancient Greeks used four different words to define what we know today by the term "love", these were: eros, agape, philia and storge. Each one of them has a deeper meaning than the one we currently give to a single word. On the one hand, eros supposes passionate love, one that is carried away by desire and attraction. On the other hand, storge love is brotherly, it implies reciprocal admiration and affection. Instead, agape refers to unconditional love, one that accepts the other as it is. While philia is similar to friendship, it implies brotherhood and admiration.
