Untitled I - A tale called “The Red Thread”, “The Red Thread of Fate.” is the source of my inspiration for these series of art. According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red thread around the finger of those that are destined to meet one another. The thread may stretch or tangle but does not break. INSPIRATION: The Untitled collection, Untitled I is also inspired by my travel memories. Through travelling to other countries, I gather stories from people I meet. Those stories become my inspiration. Other sources of inspiration are other art forms such as opera, theatre, movies. Theatre was a big part of my life growing up in Argentina. Since I was five years old, my parents took me to see plays by Shakespeare, Moliere, and Giraudoux. The Red Thread in my art and the spiritual understanding I seek to create also derives from film. They were an important part of my upbringing as well. Film directors like Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, Krzysztof Zanussi, and Win Wenders are my leitmotivs. Those ideas are within many of my paintings that belong to a series. MOVING FROM FIGURATIVE TO ABSTRACT: In my more recent body of work, I don’t literally paint red threads, but the searching and contemplation derived in the Red Thread legend, the seeking to understand the relationship between human and spiritual beings along with the wandering in unworldly imaginary places are still a large part of my creative process. My recent work includes the three key elements of my body of work (landscapes/interiors; human beings; and spiritual beings). However, landscapes/interiors are even more from my imagination rather than any real place and humans and spiritual beings are less distinguishable from each other. More importantly, in these paintings, I am moving from the more figurative to abstract representations particularly for spiritual beings. Being abstract feels the more accurate way to represent spirituality, since spirituality is more like an abstract ideas. https://www.instagram.com/gallery8nyc/ https://platform.wise.art/author/gallery8-nyc/
